Abstract
Russia has the world’s largest potential of natural and biological resources, but currently hardly uses it in its economy. Economic valuation of ecosystem services, i.e. the benefits that people get from use of ecosystems, must go from the realm of theory to preparing the compensation mechanisms for Russia’s service as an ecological donor. This approach should also be implemented at the national level.
